The Land Rover and Its Royal Connections

When we think about the English Royal family we can immediately think of items that have become synonymous with them. Firstly you will think about Corgi dogs, these dogs have been a part of the royal family since 1944 when the queen received her first pet. Secondly you are sure to think of Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of the Royal family.

Another trademark that has for many years been connected to the Windsor family is the Land Rover. The classic British car manufacturer which specialises in four wheel drive vehicles has been linked and photographed with royalty for many years. Due to the Land Rovers mix of power and reliability both the Royal family and their security teams use the models for work use.

Just this month the British car company based in Gaydon, Warwickshire has hit the headlines twice with regards to its royal connections.

All About Land Rover Cars

Do you want to know more about Land Rover? This prestigious brand has been around since 1978 when it was founded as a subsidiary company of British Leyland. British Leyland was established in 1968 and became partly nationalised in 1975. The growing name of their new subsidiary meant that they changed their name officially to the Rover Group in 1986. Originally, Land Rover began as a model of car rather than as an entire brand, but the name became synonymous with the overall company. It began as a product range of four-wheel drive vehicles which could be driven on all terrains. They became a hit with farmers and those who lived in rural areas, where the giant wheels and resilient handling meant that they could make their way out of even the deepest mud puddles.
